If you’ve been following Sur Collective for a minute you know I love getaways that combine nature and thoughtful design, and this next destination delivers on both. I took a roadtrip for my birthday last month to visit Yosemite National Park for the first time (!!!). We stayed in one of the Classic Airstreams at Autocamp and looooved it.
If you’re not familiar with Autocamp, think of it as the coolest nature escape paired with the amenities and comfort of a design-forward boutique hotel. You get some of the best parts of camping (think: your own personal fire pit for s’mores) with the service and design of a boutique hotel (in-room coffee and a hot shower? yes please).
Autocamp
First launched in Santa Barbara in 2013, Autocamp is the exclusive hospitality partner of Airstream, an iconic American-made trailer you most likely recognize by its distinct shape. Fast forward to now, Autocamp has nine locations across the US with lodging for a variety of travelers including airstreams, luxury glamping tents and cabins.
You’ll find a communal clubhouse and gathering areas on the property with happy hour, live music, complimentary workout classes, a pool and more. You can order food and drinks all day and purchase snacks and quick food from the General Store. There are good food options, but if you have allergies or food restrictions, I recommend bringing your own or visiting Mariposa (10 mins away) for restaurant options. The property had such a peaceful energy and it was truly the perfect home base for the weekend. I also love that every stay goes back to local nature preservation organizations.
Traveling in a group? You can rent a Basecamp Suite with room for six that includes an Airstream and a luxury tent.
